Loirston School Promoting Positive Behaviour Policy – updated Jan2010
January 22, 2010At the start of this term we have shared our behaviour policy with all pupils in the school.
At all times we promote positive behaviour in our school. We do this through verbal praise, stickers, certificates, notes home, Our Good news book, Golden Time and celebration assemblies where children and staff choose pupils who are working hard and behaving well.
For children who behave well a Golden Time will be held on a Friday afternoon where children be rewarded for behaving/working well and can opt into different activities in their classes.
Each class will negotiate their own class rules to be followed. General school rules are also shared in Assembly and regularly promoted by all staff.
However, we do realise that at times children may display inappropriate behaviour and we all need to be aware and agree sanctions that will be followed.
At Loirston we will follow a staged procedure from Level 1 to 4.
In the first instance children will receive a reminder from their teacher with regard to the classroom rules. This allows any child to correct their inappropriate behaviour. Should the teacher have to repeat the instruction then this will then be noted in a class log. According to the class rules the pupil may then lose 5 minutes of their Golden Time or any other Stage 1 sanction may be applied. Golden Time can be earned back when the child is seen to be behaving appropriately.
Should the pupil not respond to Level 1 sanctions then they move onto Level 2. Following this they will move to Level 3 or 4. Obviously depending on the seriousness of the behaviour witnessed pupils may skip a stage.
The staged procedure has been agreed by all staff and pupils and is regularly reinforced at whole school assemblies.
